Eligibility

At least one must be met for the patient to be eligible for referral.

Clinically suspected or confirmed osteoarthritis of the shoulder with initial primary-care work-up completed

Routine referral criteria

Determine Category 2 or 3 urgency.

Identified osteoarthritis of the shoulder with ongoing moderate or severe pain or functional impairment, or both, despite at least 6 months of treatment that has included targeted education, physiotherapy (if tolerated) and medication

Usually managed in primary care

Osteoarthritis of the shoulder where at least 6 months of treatment that included targeted education, physiotherapy (if tolerated) and medication has not been trialled
