Eligibility

At least one must be met for the patient to be eligible for referral.

Clinically suspected or confirmed osteoarthritis of the knee with initial primary-care work-up completed

Routine referral criteria

Determine Category 2 or 3 urgency.

Identified osteoarthritis of the knee with ongoing moderate or severe pain and/or functional impairment, despite at least 3 months of treatment that has included targeted education, physiotherapy and weight loss (where appropriate)

Usually managed in primary care

Osteoarthritis of the knee where at least 3 months of treatment that included targeted education, physiotherapy and weight loss (where appropriate), has not been trialled
