Heel pain

Plantar fasciitis and other causes of heel pain.

Eligibility

At least one must be met for the patient to be eligible for referral.

Standard history and examination, X-ray (AP & lateral ankle/foot, weight-bearing) — to exclude other diagnoses

Routine referral criteria

Determine Category 2 or 3 urgency.

Persistent symptoms despite physiotherapy, steroid injection (plantar fasciitis) and heel cups/raise

Usually managed in primary care
