Arthritis of the ankles or feet

Symptomatic ankle/foot osteoarthritis.

Eligibility

At least one must be met for the patient to be eligible for referral.

Standard history and examination, X-ray (AP & lateral ankle/foot, weight-bearing)

Routine referral criteria

Determine Category 2 or 3 urgency.

Functional impairment despite analgesics/NSAIDs, physiotherapy, activity modification, walking aids and consideration of steroid injection

Usually managed in primary care
