Eligibility

At least one must be met for the patient to be eligible for referral.

Clinically suspected or confirmed chest pain with initial primary-care work-up completed

Red flags

Indicate urgent (Category 1) referral or emergency assessment.

Suspected pulmonary embolism or aortic dissection

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — severe or ongoing chest pain

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain lasting 10 minutes or more

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain that is new at rest, or with minimal activity

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — severe dyspnoea

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — syncope or pre-syncope

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — respiratory rate greater than 30 breaths per minute

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — tachycardia greater than 120 beats per minute

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — systolic blood pressure lower than 90 mmHg

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — heart failure or suspected pulmonary oedema

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — ST segment elevation or depression

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — complete heart block

Suspected acute coronary syndrome with any of the following — chest pain with any of the following — new left bundle branch block

Routine referral criteria

Determine Category 2 or 3 urgency.

New or recurrent cardiac chest pain without any current acute concerning features
